General Guidance

  • Nomination qualifying period is between Saturday 1 August 2018 to Wednesday 31 July 2019
  • Deadline for entries is Wednesday 31 July 2019
  • No late entries will be accepted
  • Each section must be completed for a candidate to be considered for the award
  • Submissions must be no more than 500 words otherwise your entry will not be accepted
  • Nominations submitted on any other form will not be accepted
  • All nominations must be approved and signed off by your head of department or their deputy before submitting
  • The judges this year will be representatives from the Superintendents’ Association, Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner, Police Federation, HR, UNISON and the Chief Constable
  • The shortlisted will be announced on Friday 6 September 2019

 

Please give an example of how this person has made a difference in the community.

  • A uniformed officer who, on a day-to-day basis has contact with their local community.  They offer visible reassurance and improve the quality of life in their area.
  • Someone who cuts crime in their area by gathering intelligence, effecting arrests and preventing crime.
  • Seen by the community as an essential element in the life of the local area and epitomises the concept of policing by consent through partnership with local people.
